Space Needle
This is the overall painting I did of the space needle, I used acrylic paint and four separate canvases. Each canvas has a different season on it.(And recently I've made adjustments to this painting, just some small detail fixes, the bottom canvas was modified the most. I will have pictures up soon.)
Summer.
This is the top canvas, on the Fourth of July they let off fireworks at the top, so I used that to symbolize summer.
Fall/ Autumn.
I used a few darker colors and made them a little hazy to make it look like a fall sky.
Winter.
Here I used a light blue and some darkers blues for the sky, and used different sized paper clips to add spots of white for snow.
Spring.
I used a solid sky blue for the sky, I also blended in some white for clouds. at the bottom I added trees to make it look more like spring.
Reflection
1. Describe: What is your project? What materials did you use to make it? How long did it take you to make?
-It is a series painting of the space needle in Seattle, WA. I used acrylic paint, paint brushes, canvas, and paperclips. It took me about a month and a half to finish.
2.Evaluate: What are the good / strong parts of your project? What is done well and why?
-I think the good/ strong parts of my painting are the details on every canvas. I think I did a good job with shading and values because it looks 3-D
3. Evaluate: What do you think you could have done better on this project and why?___.
- I think I could have worked on making the seasons more apparent because if you dont already know that the backgrounds are seasons, it just looks like a different time of day.
4. Describe the attributes of your theme / unity: What is the deeper meaning of the project? What are you trying to communicate? What details did you use to reflect that theme?
- My unity would be the canvases all come together to make one painting, and that there all of a different season. I used different shades of blue and different kinds of backgrounds to make them fit more into the seasons.
5. What are the important elements? Why do you believe those are the most important?
- I would say color mostly because without certain colors in the background you wouldn't be able to tell what season it was.
6. What are the important principles? Why do you believe those are the most important?
- I think Unity is the most important. Because you can remove one of the canvases and still see what season it is.
7.What did you learn from this project that you could apply to other projects in the future? What lessons could be applied to
life in general? Why?
- I learned that patience is everything, and not to rush things. Because towards the end I rushed a little bit to get it done on time and there are still some small details that I missed because of it. Don't rush things because you'll miss out on the small deteails of life.
